Inspired by our legacy
The Black Prince (Edward of Woodstock) became the first Duke of Cornwall aged just seven years old, when the estate was created out of the former Earldom of Cornwall by King Edward III in 1337. The estate is past down to the next male heir to the British throne.
The current Duke is HRH The Prince of Wales, Prince William. HRH Catherine, The Princess of Wales, holds the title of Duchess of Cornwall.
The Duchy has a profound legacy, our archive team work closely with researchers with material tracing back to the 14th century! The links to our past inspire the work we do today, to protect and restore our natural world.

A word from Will Bax, our new Secretary
"I'm delighted to be a part of the Duchy at a time of great transformation. I view this as an opportunity to reflect on what we are most proud of in the work we do across the estate, as well as how we can improve the management of our portfolio. Through our efforts to tackle environmental challenges and improve upon our community building, I see the Duchy as an exemplar estate for people, places and the planet and am looking forward to the future."
Performance
We set ourselves ambitious targets to make sure that we are delivering positive change and meaningful impact for the members of our communities and the land we care for.
It's not only our own visionary targets that keep us accountable, HM Treasury plays an important role in the oversight of the Duchy's finances, activities and approving substantial property transactions. Our annual accounts are also laid before the House of Commons and the House of Lords to keep the Duchy and HM Treasury accountable.
Each year we produce an annual report, which is publicly accessible and contains details of our activities, reflections, successes and the impact we have made. Find out more about the Duchy in our latest reports...
